This magazine is obviously a film magazine, and it is evident straight away with the masthead. There are also several common conventions that make it obvious that it is a magazine, too, such as the issue number and price above the masthead, the masthead itself, the barcode and the layout of the stories with headings and a small amount of detail underneath.
Good features of this magazine include the colour contrast, where practically everything related to the feature film, Prince of Persia, is in dark colours, and things relating to the rest of the magazine are in or backed by bright red, and the fact that the feature film has been the decider for the theme of the entire edition: 'epic adventure'.
Something I think would make the magazine better if it were changed is the colour of the text: 'Prince of Persia', as it is quite difficult to see against the character's dark armour.
I think the target audience for this magazine would be a younger one than Empire's - possibly ages 17-25. This is because of the words used. Again however, I think younger people may have an interest in this particular edition, due to the feature film.
