Aside from being a fantasy film, I have chosen the poster for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, to consider how well the poster portrays a new darkness to Harry Potter, considering Goblet of Fire was the first film of the series to receive a certificate higher than PG.
The colours here certainly do the job in portraying a dark world. At this point, everyone already knows that Harry Potter is completely fictional piece of fantasy, though props to indicate this, such as a wand, are still included. Looking at the background alone, you could be forgiven for thinking that this poster is advertising some sort of horror film, but if you look at the bigger picture, I believe the clothing of the characters, particularly the brightness of them, turns you away from the possibility of making that assumption.
This poster has several typical conventions of a poster, such as the font, steel tongs, at the bottom, as well as the name in large type and the presence of a tagline. Release date information, as well as the film's official website and the production and distribution company logos are also included and contribute towards the 'film feel' of the poster.
I believe this poster suits its 12 certificate, for several of the aforementioned points, as well as the fact that the shot is a low angle shot, suggesting that Harry and his friends conquer in the end.
